Strengthening grid reliability that respects the rural character of Grand Island.
🟠 In Development
The Grand Island V ESS Project is a proposed battery energy storage system in the Town of Grand Island, New York. The 4.896 MW AC system will connect to the local National Grid distribution network and store electricity for delivery when demand is high, helping support local grid reliability.
Stand-alone LFP battery project
Shipping container sized units
Supplied with electricity at peak-hour
Privately held land ensuring a small footprint
Year-round when demand soars
Electricity demand is increasing, and grid infrastructure must continue to serve homes and businesses reliably. Community-scale battery energy storage projects like Grand Island V ESS connect to the local distribution system. This project will support grid reliability for the Grand Island 64 Substation, which serves key locations including local businesses, Nike Base Park, Grand Island Fire Company, Inc., the town's senior center, and William Kaegebein Elementary School.
The host community is the Town of Grand Island. Information about community benefit agreements and tax arrangements will be added when available.
